Biotechniques at USTEMM

Hands-on biotechnology for curious students who want to explore real lab science, build confidence, and discover future careers in STEMM.

USTEMM’s Biotechniques program gives students an exciting introduction to biotechnology through active, real-world learning. In a student-led environment, participants explore how modern science is used in labs to study DNA, cells, working of living systems, and biochemical reactions happening inside the cells. Students will be learning teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills. This fits USTEMM’s broader mission of helping students grow through science, technology, and social-emotional learning.

Students Will Learn

  • how to use basic biotech lab tools and follow lab safety
  • how DNA, cells, and tissues are studied in the lab
  • how to work through hands-on activities like microscopy, pipetting, and simple experiments
  • how biotechnology connects to medicine, research, and future career
