Mihir Kumar
I am an 8th grader at Urbana Middle School, Frederick, MD. I have experience with Mathcount, AMC, northsouth and Ekal bee and robotics competitions including FLL and FTC. I like teaching Math and robotics and volunteering for U STEMM, North South Foundation, and Ekal Abhiyaan. I regularly participate in many community services in the local area (including community cleaning, food drive, book drive, etc.). I am also vice president and Maryland lead of the recycle my battery organization that is helping to protect the environment. In 2021, I was awarded the presidential volunteer service twice in the past for my service to the community.

Praneel Pandit
I am a rising 9th grader, currently in 8th grade at Urbana Middle School. I am a STEM enthusiast and passionate about Math and all aspects of Science and Engineering. I adore learning about the environment and nature. I won 2nd place in all-county Regionals MathCounts and qualified for STATES for MathCounts, FLL Robotics, and Science Olympiad. I also received an honorary mention for AMC 8. For the last few years, I have been an active mentor for Math and Robotics for students in the U STEMM program. I also volunteer as a mentor for underprivileged kids in the Avanee Program.

Ian T. R. Demiray
I am a sophomore at Urbana High School, enrolled in the International Baccalaureate Program and have mentored for Urbana STEMM since my freshman year. I enjoy numbers and love a challenge so this program works well for me. I have been successful in middle school science fairs, basketball, and playing the saxophone- we won the MD Battle of the Bands. I have won several Academic Excellence Awards at UHS where I am on the Honor Roll. I graduated from Middle School with an Outstanding Achievement Award from the Presidential Academic Excellence Program and obtained the SJRCS Academic Honors Awards. Outside of school, I help my neighbors and participate in community service and clean up events. I believe it is important to give back to the community whenever I can. In my free time, I like to sleep, read, solve puzzles, watch videos, and hang out with my friends, brothers, & dogs.

Sathya Krishnan
I am a 10th grade student, studying in urbana high school and enrolled in an IB program. I am in the Robotics club as a blogger, and in the marketing department as well. Me and my friend started a club and we are working with FBLA to compete for service in the community. Outside of school, I learned classical dance (Bharatanatyam) for 8 years now, and I am going to graduate in the summer of 2023. I am also an active member of the interact club, graphic designing club, and Naach. I am leading the 5th grade math group in Urbana STEM and teaching once a week to the group. My long term plan is to become a dance teacher as my passion, and a dermatologist as my profession.

Manas Sharma
I am a rising senior at Urbana High School, Frederick, MD. I have competed in various kinds of math competitions throughout middle school, such as the Math olympiad, AMC8, and Math Kangaroo. I have also competed in high school math competitions as well (AMC 10 and AMC 12). I am a member of the National Math Honor Society and a volunteer-serving tutor of high school students. I have also tutored middle school students in mathematics and physics in summer to U STEMM/EKAL students. I have also run a school supply drive supported by EKAL/U STEMM in which I campaigned and gathered school supplies for Frederick County School students in need. In addition to these various activities, I have also played competitive baseball and helped coach in providing training to younger players in my best possible capacity.

Amaar Trisal
I am a rising senior at Urbana High School and I have been actively involved with competition math, placing as high as 3rd in the chapter competitions for the MathCounts program. I also have experience with AMC competitions, participating in multiple of the exams and taking courses at the AoPS Academy Campus in Gaithersburg, Maryland. I currently tutor both competitive and pre-algebra math skills. In addition to competitive math, I was actively involved in the Wharton Global High School Investment Competition and have experience with youth recreational sports programs, both volunteering to coach and working part-time with the i9 Sports Frederick division.

Carmen Vega
I am a rising senior at Urbana High School, Frederick, MD. Throughout middle school I was an active member of MathCounts. As a high school student, I am a member of the National Math Honor Society and tutor high school students. I also am a private tutor for college level statistics. The College Board recognized me for the National Hispanic Recognition Program as well as the National Rural and Small Town Recognition Program for 2021-2022. Additionally, I am selected to intern at USAMRIID to conduct a research project throughout the summer and school year.

Dhruv Girish
I am a rising Junior at Urbana High School, with extensive experience with coaching/mentoring students for competitions helping students to place 1st in the nation. I also founded a not-for profit organization called The Scholarly Program where high school students advocate for STEAM equity within their community. I have been recognized for my work within the community and the extensive research completed being recognized as 1 of the 15 honorees considered “Most powerful and influential youth in the East Coast” as featured on ABC7 News. Recently, I received the Presidential volunteer service award and Point of Light award for my community services.

Anushka Tyagi
I am a rising sophomore at Urbana High School, who is deeply passionate about community service. I have been working with U STEMM for almost three years now, and look forward to working with them more. I am additionally involved with various other local committees and groups, such as Recycle My Battery and The Scholarly Program, in which I am the Director of Education. I enjoy tutoring and working with younger children, and was the mentor for the FLL team Techy Titans, who’s innovation project was ranked in the top three in the state of Maryland for the Cargo Connect Challenge.

Nainitha Chalamalasetty
I am a rising 9th grader at Urbana High School, Frederick, MD. I’m interested in different aspects of STEM, and love learning new things! I participated in math counts from 6th through 8th grade. I won 7th in invitationals, 4th in regionals and qualified for the state competition. I also participated in Science Olympiad throughout middle school and won many awards. I participate and volunteer in community events such as community cleaning and taking summer math classes for elementary and middle schoolers. I am also an active member of a non-profit organization called Recycle My Battery. In 7th and 8th grade, I won first place in the chemistry and physics categories for the Frederick County Science Fair. I got nominated to participate in the Broadcom Masters competition 2 times in a row. In addition to this, I was a part of an FLL team for 3 years. We won first place for robot design and qualified for the state competition. I’m looking forward to sharing my experience and finding opportunities to further my growth.

Ishan Anand
Hi! I’m a 9th grader at Urbana high school and am driven and passionate in fields related to STEM. I love getting involved in projects related to computers and general sciences. From 6th through 8th grade I participated in the MathCounts program and qualified for the STATES competition. I also placed top five in science olympiad state competitions. In 6th grade, I won 2nd in the state science fair. I also got 5th place in the state’s Breakout Edu competition. In addition to this, I worked with an FLL robotics team. In 8th grade, I won the presidential award for academic excellence along with finishing 3rd in a DMV chess tournament. Right now, I’m on the high school robotics team Cryptohawks #8726 and participated in the Division C science olympiad. I also mentor middle school science olympiad students and help them with events. In recent times I help mentor kids for the USTEMM program and joined the Urbana High School Marching band. I play the Alto Saxophone. I’ve also played with the Peabody wind Orchestra at JHU. I look forward to developing myself further in the future!

Niranjana Attoor
I am a 9th grader at Urbana High School, Frederick, MD. I am interested in all the different angles of STEM. I have experienced and volunteered in many community events. I volunteer at the Urbana Regional Library. I am an active member of the non-profit organization – Recycle My Battery. I was also a member of Katie’s Krops in 8th grade. I am the Director of Finance and Publications of the non-profit organization ‘Scholarly Program’. I am currently in my last year of FTC, and I am part of the team Techy Titans #21459. I am also the Co-president of the Research club which is run at Urbana High School and also doing the IB program. I participated in Science Olympiad in 7th grade. While in 6th grade, participated in the school Spelling Bee. I have taught many classes over the summer for kids in Elementary school. I have been a Volunteer Academy Tutor for 3 years. I have been doing Bharatnatyam since I was five years old and play the Flute, Oboe, and Piano. I did band from 4th grade to 8th grade. Also took an Engineering course in the ‘Aavanee Program’ in 8th grade. I am excited to find new opportunities in the future to grow and learn.

She is a freshman in college majoring in Computer Science. She has learnt programming language Java and C plus plus. She is also doing internship in DC South Asia Arts Council (DCS AACI), which showcases South Asian Arts, literature and films. Her responsibilities in DCS AACI include website support, social media and marketing coordination. In the past she has volunteered with USTEM. With her volunteering, coordination and social media marketing skill sets, she brings in diverse experience to USTEM program. She enjoys helping and contributing to the community and she hopes to play a bigger role as Ekal Volunteer.Niharika Kalkeri: She is a freshman in college majoring in Computer Science. Mihir Kumar
I am an 8th grader at Urbana Middle School interested in STEM fields. I’ve participated in past MathCounts competitions and still am, and also have competed in the AMC 8. I placed in the top 5 in the county twice. I’ve also won the EKAL Math Bee in 7th grade. In addition, I’ve taught several online math classes over almost 3 years. In addition to mathematics, I’ve participated in First Lego League Robotics for two years where we went to states both years. In my second year, our team placed number 1 overall at our state’s competition. I’ve also mentored several different other FLL teams. Currently, I’m in the second year of the First Tech Challenge. In our first year, we went to states, where we placed top 10 in scoring. I am also the Maryland Chapter Lead and a Vice President of RecycleMyBattery, an international organization. Plus, I’ve received several different volunteer awards like the Volunteer Presidential award and the Point of Light Service Award.

I am also part of Division C Science Olympiad, which is done in high school, and I am in Urbana High School’s FRC team, Cryptohawks #8726. I received the Presidential Award in 8th grade for exemplary performance throughout my middle school years, and I have also given a speech at the Embassy of India. I received honorary mention for AMC 8, and for the last few years, I have been an active mentor for math and robotics for kids in the USTEMM program. I am a member and active participant of the nonprofit organization Recycle My Battery, and I am a part of the Urbana High School Marching Band, in which I am a flute player. Along with this, I volunteer as a mentor for kids in the Aavanee Program.
